Because success needs to be followed up and reiterated, Symphos 2013 returns for a second, more enriching edition. Held in Agadir from 6 to 10 May and organised by OCP, the International Symposium on Innovation and Technology in the Phosphate Industry brought together the elite of the phosphate world around a theme dear to us all: "Promoting innovation and technology for sustainable development". No fewer than 1,100 industrialists, manufacturers, equipment suppliers and researchers shared their experiences and collectively discussed the future of the phosphate industry. This panel of experts examined various issues, particularly regarding safety and the environment, the preservation of phosphate deposits, and the best way to implement efficient and sustainable operations, through plenary sessions, oral presentations and thematic workshops. And for better visibility, OCP organised a visit to the largest mining industrial platform in Khouribga and chemical platform in Jorf Lasfar. For 4 days, conferences, workshops and an exhibition area provided an overview of the advances in the phosphate industry, with notable speeches by international specialists. The figures speak for themselves. The Symphos programme was broken down into 9 technical courses, 16 plenary conferences, 145 oral presentations and 10 thematic workshops led by experts from various disciplines related to the phosphate industry. Other striking figures include more than 100 exhibition stands and 3,000 B2B meetings and encounters, which denotes the importance of this premier event that places development challenges at the heart of the concerns of this second edition. For the vast majority of participants, the event lived up to their expectations. During this symposium, no aspect of the phosphate industry was left out: materials and new products, agriculture and fertilisation, environment and sustainable development.
