More than 238 projects between 2005 and 2008 required a budget of 133,690,058 dirhams, of which the contribution of the National Initiative for Human Development (INDH) amounts to 88,638,286 dirhams for the benefit of 200,791 direct beneficiaries in supporting access to basic social equipment and services, upgrading reception centres, socio-cultural and sports activities, and income-generating activities (AGR) in communes of the Agadir Ida Outanane prefecture.
The 10th edition of the INDH "Media Thursday" was held in Agadir on March 17 and 18, as part of the local communication strategy aimed at evaluating the degree of operationalisation of the programme's projects. This meeting aims to maintain a dialogue-consultation with the media to ensure regular monitoring of INDH news. The occasion is also, the organisers acknowledge, a stage for sharing experiences, strengthening achievements, and monitoring the execution of the various programmes linked to this societal project. Speaking about the platform for the convergence of sectoral policies, the governor of the National Coordination of the Initiative recalled that it "...allowed the initiation of 5,200 projects... programmed with a financial contribution from ministerial departments and public establishments amounting to 3.3 billion dirhams".
Let us recall that the share of INDH financial partners amounts to 2 billion dirhams, or 20% of the envelope allocated for the 2006-2010 period. Germany, through the KFW, participates in the financing of projects for access to basic infrastructure and social services to the tune of 5 million euros. In his speech at the INDH "Media Thursday" in Agadir, the German Ambassador, while praising "the considerable efforts deployed by the Moroccan government in the field of social policy", recalled his country's priorities through this cooperation, which consists of "reducing vulnerability and poverty in Morocco in well-targeted regions, communes, and neighbourhoods".
During the two days of the 10th edition of the "Media Thursday" of the Agadir prefecture, the delegation of representatives of national and regional media outlets visited intervention sites of the Initiative in the communes of Tikiouine, Drarga, Tamri, Aqsri, Imouzzer, and Tiqqi, which benefited the sectors of education (construction of 2 classrooms for 153 students), social development (construction of an argan oil extraction unit benefiting 400 people), artisanal fishing (equipping traditional boats with 15-horsepower engines for the benefit of 240 families), National Mutual Aid (construction and equipment of Dar Talib for the benefit of 164 young people), road infrastructure equipment (construction of a reinforced concrete retaining wall serving 300 families), and drinking water supply (reservoir, pumping station equipment, installation of a distribution network for the benefit of 500 families).
The synergy between associations, communes, and public authorities will therefore have allowed for effective social achievements to fight against poverty and social exclusion, particularly in rural areas.
