In light of the ongoing Israeli war on the Palestinian Gaza Strip, the Jewish community in Morocco continued the "Hiloula" celebrations in various cities of the Kingdom; the latest of which was yesterday, Wednesday, in Taroudant, where many of them traveled from international capitals to visit the shrine of "David Ben Baruch".
This step comes to receive praise from Moroccan Jews for what the Kingdom is characterized by, according to them, "of the values of peace and religious coexistence", and who did not hide "the existence of initial concern from the Jews of the world about holding these celebrations this year in light of the continuation of the Gaza war; but the success of the celebration arrangements in many cities raised the level of their sense of security".
These celebrations, which were witnessed in Taroudant, saw a reception ceremony attended by Said Amzazi, Wali of the Souss-Massa region, Governor of the Agadir Ida-Outanane prefecture, Mabrouk Tabet, Governor of the Taroudant province, El Yazid Erradi, President of the Regional Scientific Council, elected officials, heads of external services, and a number of civil and military figures.
The Jewish community in Morocco believes that these manifestations have strengthened the certainty of Jews across international capitals that the Kingdom is "a land of religious peace and coexistence".
In this regard, Jacky Kadosh, President of the Moroccan Jewish Community in the Marrakech-Safi region, said that "all the Jews of the world envy their counterparts in Morocco because of this intimate peace".
Kadosh added, speaking to Hespress, that the Jews of international capitals "were, indeed, at first, afraid of holding (Hiloula) in light of this time period where there is war in the Gaza Strip", noting that "all these fears ended after they observed the success of the celebrations in various Moroccan cities".
The President of the Moroccan Jewish Community in the Marrakech-Safi region considered that "Morocco is a happy land, and a historically ancient country known for its religious tolerance, and Jews have lived in peace on this spot of the world since ancient times".
He continued: "We did not feel fear while we were holding Hiloula, and we were feeling that internal security that has existed in Morocco since ancient times.. And today, Thursday, we performed our prayers normally, and we are preparing to join our brothers who have traveled from many countries to Taroudant".
The same speaker pointed out that these celebrations took place in many Moroccan cities in the month of December, especially Essaouira and Casablanca, noting that yesterday's celebrations, which are currently continuing at the shrine of "David Ben Baruch", witnessed a large attendance from the Jews of the world.
The President of the Moroccan Jewish Community in the Marrakech-Safi region stressed that this annual celebration passed in "good and normal" conditions, and showed the great values of connection that the Jews of the world have for their ancestors in the Moroccan cities, and who "feel fear to go out with these manifestations in other countries in light of the current circumstances imposed by the war in Gaza".
Kadosh highlighted that all these values "were contributed to by the land of Morocco since ancient times in preserving them, which makes the Kingdom a true land of religious peace and security".
