In this context, the sorting and recycling centre for polluted waste, managed by the "Asrak Plastic" cooperative in Taroudant, is the first project of its kind in the city, clearly embodying the spirit and philosophy of the National Initiative for Human Development, which places the human element at the heart of its concerns.
The "Asrak Plastic" waste recycling cooperative works to collect polluted waste and recycle it for use specifically in the manufacture of bedding and clothing.
This project was implemented on an area of 200 square metres at the Taroudant municipal landfill and required a total investment of 300,000 dirhams, including 240,000 dirhams as a contribution from the National Initiative for Human Development, and a contribution of land from the Taroudant territorial collectivity to host the project.
This project aims to contribute to the process of recycling polluted waste and to meet the objectives of the National Household Waste Program by developing the sorting, recycling, and energy recovery sector.
The president of the "Asrak Plastic" cooperative, Abdel Sadek Achen, told the Moroccan News Agency (MAP) that the cooperative contributes to creating job opportunities for unemployed youth and aims to reduce the volume of household and agricultural waste in the province of Taroudant.
He added that the collection of this waste is done via the reception area, then it passes through a conveyor belt, and is then sieved, with the aim of sending it to industrial units for household bedding and clothing manufacturing, among others.
He highlighted the role played by the National Initiative for Human Development, whether in terms of financial or technical support, noting that the project currently employs more than 12 workers specialised in inventorying recyclable waste (plastic, glass, cardboard, iron, etc.).
For her part, Nezha Bazi, head of the income improvement and economic integration department at the Social Affairs Division of the Taroudant Provincial Prefecture, explained that the National Initiative for Human Development contributed to financing this environmental project with an amount of 240,000 dirhams, as part of the "Income Improvement and Youth Economic Integration" program, in addition to technical and managerial support since the project's initial stages.
She pointed out that the project, in addition to its ecological aspects, contributes to integrating the target group into the formal economic fabric, enabling them to have a stable income and work in decent professional conditions that preserve the dignity of the workers and guarantee their professional rights through health coverage.
It should be noted that since its launch in 2005, the National Initiative for Human Development has always given special importance to cooperatives operating in various fields, through financial and technical support, as they constitute a fundamental pillar and a strategic choice for supporting and strengthening the social and solidarity economy.
