Mr. Zekari, speaking on behalf of the General Directorate of National Security on the occasion of the inauguration of this school this Saturday in the Red City, stated that this new structure, which joins several police schools opened by the General Directorate at the regional level in Laayoune, Oujda, Fez, and Tangier, was created to strengthen the police training system previously carried out by the Royal Police Institute and the training schools in Bouknadel and Fouarat near Kenitra.
He added that the opening of this school coincides with preparations for the future opening of the Higher Centre for Police Training in Ifrane, which will mark a turning point in strengthening international and African security cooperation in the fields of security training.
In this context, Mr. Zekari emphasised the General Directorate of National Security's commitment to developing police training structures, modernising training methods, and adapting them to the specific nature of security duties on one hand, and the expectations of citizens on the other, in order to prepare future police officers qualified to serve the nation and its citizens.
He pointed out that the increasing public demand for security, the growing security challenges and threats, and the requirements for improving police services necessitate sound investment in human resources, their professional and knowledge-based qualification, and equipping them with a culture of human rights to meet the expectations of the police service.
For his part, the Director of the Security Guard Training School in Marrakech, Regional Police Commissioner Boughaba Oudal, stated to the press that the opening of the school on the anniversary of the presentation of the Independence Manifesto comes within the framework of the General Directorate of National Security's strategy aimed at bringing training institutions closer to candidates for the national security ranks and modernising security infrastructure.
He noted that the school is equipped with health, pedagogical, and administrative facilities, as well as a qualified human staff to train police officers who, upon graduation, will join external services to carry out their duties in maintaining public order and preserving the public freedoms of citizens.
This new school, built on a total area of approximately 7,826 square metres with a capacity to house 500 trainees throughout their basic training for the security guard corps, will achieve the factor of proximity for new trainees and ensure the strengthening of police specialisation in the training of security guard categories.
The architecture of this new training facility has been designed to provide all accommodation and catering facilities, classrooms, and outdoor training spaces, allowing for the training period to be spent in the best conditions in preparation for joining service and assignment centres.
The Marrakech Security Guard Training School has a residential wing with 16 accommodation units, a fully equipped kitchen, two separate dining halls, and a range of health facilities, in addition to a pedagogical wing that includes a multi-purpose hall ("polyvalente") with a capacity of 100 people, 10 classrooms, and a computer and remote conferencing room.
The school is also equipped with a clinic providing first and second-level medical consultations, an administrative space including 19 offices, a meeting room, a prayer room, as well as a ceremonial square for raising the national flag, and multiple squares for various paramilitary and sports training exercises.
The inauguration ceremony of this new security guard training facility, which was attended in particular by the Wali of the Marrakech-Safi region and Governor of the Marrakech Prefecture, the Director of Human Resources and the Director of Public Security at the General Directorate of National Security, the Wali of Marrakech Police, judicial officials, military figures, elected officials, and heads of external services, was marked by a tour of the school's various facilities.
