Casablanca: Opening of the first edition of the "Solidarity Souk" exhibition in Hay Mohammadi

Casablanca – The first edition of the “Solidarity Souk” exhibition opened today, Friday, in Casablanca, in the presence of representatives of local authorities and a number of institutional partners and economic actors from the Ain Sebaâ-Hay Mohammadi prefecture.

This exhibition, organised until March 26th by the Hay Mohammadi Youth Platform managed by the NGO Amideast, aims to promote collective entrepreneurship and the social and solidarity economy by highlighting cooperatives and providing them with development opportunities.

This exhibition highlights 18 cooperatives funded by the National Initiative for Human Development, providing them with a platform to showcase their products and innovations. Consequently, this space constitutes a real lever for the economic empowerment of young people and women entrepreneurs.

In a statement to the press on the occasion, the head of the social action division at the Ain Sebaâ-Hay Mohammadi prefecture, Seddik Cheqroun, highlighted that this exhibition falls within the framework of implementing the “Income Improvement and Economic Inclusion of Youth” programme of the National Initiative for Human Development, which primarily aims to provide technical and financial support to these cooperatives.

He continued that this support consists of providing technical accompaniment and acquiring equipment to improve their production and enhance their competitiveness in the market, recalling that the National Initiative for Human Development has approved about 36 projects for the benefit of cooperatives, with a total budget exceeding 7.2 million dirhams, of which the Initiative's contribution was 6.2 million dirhams.

For his part, Said Adlani, communications officer at the Youth Platform, highlighted that this solidarity souk aims to accompany and support the beneficiaries of the National Initiative for Human Development, noting that this event is a dream come true for many project holders and cooperatives, whose ideas were able to see the light of day thanks to the support of the Initiative.

He added that “this solidarity souk allows cooperatives and beneficiaries of the Initiative to display their products and promote them, and it also constitutes an opportunity to exchange and share experiences,” recalling that the Hay Mohammadi Youth Platform actively supports and accompanies the projects and initiatives of women and youth.

The exhibition highlights cooperatives specialising in local products, traditional crafts, essential oil extraction, sewing, and recycling.

The programme for this edition includes the organisation of B2B meetings, seminars, and specialised workshops, in order to promote exchanges between project holders, investors, and the general public.
