The feature film "Mon père n’est pas mort" by its director Adil El Fadili was screened on Tuesday evening as a preview in Casablanca, in front of an audience of artists and other film enthusiasts.
This 100-minute film tells the story of Malik, a young boy living with his father Mehdi in a funfair. Their daily life is turned upside down when Mehdi gives his son five mysterious and fascinating paintings. But their lives take a tragic turn with the sudden and unexplained disappearance of the father. Faced with this, Malik embarks on a frantic quest to find his father, aided by the funfair community.
"Mon père n’est pas mort", Adil El Fadili's first feature film, brings together sure values and new talents, including the late Aziz El Fadili, Mohamed Khouyi, Omar Lotfi, Fatima Atif, Nadia Kounda, Faouzi Bensaïdi, Didier Bénureau, Abdenbi El Beniwi, and the young Adam Raghal.
In a statement to MAP, Adil El Fadili was keen to clarify from the outset that his film is completely depoliticised and that it is simply a human story about the tribulations of a child searching for his missing father.
For her part, actress Fatima Atif noted that it is an entertaining comedy that evokes events through the prism of a child, while actor Abdenbi El Beniwi expressed his happiness at having had the chance to participate in this film.
Awarded at several festivals, "Mon père n’est pas mort" notably won six awards at the 2023 Tangier National Film Festival, including the Grand Prix and the award for best direction.
Born in 1970 and trained at the Conservatoire libre du cinéma français (CLCF) in Paris, Adil El Fadili forged his career with television films and series, directing his first short film titled "Courte vie" in 2010.
