A well-informed source indicated to Hespress that Abdellatif Hammouchi, Director General of National Security, has given his instructions to the health services under the national police to ensure the monitoring and support of the health status of a principal police officer belonging to the traffic brigade of the Hay Hassani security zone in Casablanca. The latter was the victim, this Tuesday in the early afternoon, of a serious intentional road accident, after a motorist refused to stop after running a red light.
It was also reported that the Casablanca police prefecture and the competent central services have been tasked with providing the necessary assistance, notably by covering the costs of care and hospitalization for the injured policeman. The latter is currently in the intensive care unit, suffering from a head fracture as well as multiple fractures to the limbs and chest.
The same source specified that the injured policeman was performing his regulatory duties at a road intersection in the Hay Hassani district area in Casablanca when he asked a motorist to stop in order to draw up a report for a traffic code violation, due to non-compliance with the red light. However, the driver deliberately fled, causing serious injuries to the policeman.
It was emphasized that the police elements succeeded in arresting the suspect driver, aged 34. The latter has been placed in police custody as part of the judicial investigation ordered by the competent prosecutor's office in order to determine all the circumstances, the ins and outs of this criminal act.
