This agreement aims to organise events and activities that seek to preserve cultural heritage and raise awareness of its importance among young groups, especially through events organised within the framework of "Heritage Month", which is planned to be held this year from 18 April to 18 May.
This agreement also aims to contribute to promoting cultural tourism and economic dynamism, encouraging local industries and arts related to heritage, cultural legacy, and Moroccan traditions, as well as encouraging cultural and artistic creativity, supporting cultural initiatives, and involving various cultural actors in the Casablanca-Settat region to contribute to cultural revitalisation.
In a speech on the occasion, Hafida Khouyi, Regional Director of the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication (Culture Sector) in the Casablanca-Settat region, said that this agreement falls within the framework of preserving and valuing intangible cultural heritage, highlighting that this agreement comes to consecrate the commitment of the Ministry of Culture and civil society to value and protect the multiple components of our rich cultural heritage.
Ms. Khouyi added, in a statement to the Maghreb Arabe Presse (MAP), that this agreement focuses on implementing various programmes, including celebrating Heritage Month, and organising meetings, guided tours, and awareness-raising activities about the importance of this heritage.
For his part, the President of the National Body of Artisans and Craftsmen, Mohamed Ait Yichou, confirmed that "this day constitutes an important moment for the body through the signing of a strategic and qualitative partnership agreement," noting that it is an innovative agreement that represents a real roadmap for the future of the craft and culture sector.
He added, in a similar statement, that craftsmanship is fundamentally linked to culture and reflects a rich and diverse tangible and intangible heritage, noting that this cooperation paves the way for an integrated approach, where "traditional crafts become a key vector for reviving and preserving our cultural identity."
Both parties confirmed that this agreement will form a solid foundation for promoting the treasures of Moroccan craftsmanship and revealing its multiple facets, while working to strengthen their partnership to multiply initiatives in this direction.
