A joint operation between the national security and customs services operating at the port of Casablanca resulted in thwarting an attempt to smuggle three tonnes and 619 kilograms of Chira on board an international transport container that was heading towards a European port.
A security source explained that the inspection procedures, in which police-trained dogs participated, had enabled the seizure of the drug shipments hidden inside a shipping container, carefully wrapped and concealed within a shipment of fish meal, which was used as an outer cover for packaging the smuggled drugs.
The same source added that the Judicial Police Department in Casablanca continues its investigations under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor's office, in order to determine the source and destination of the seized drugs, identify the shippers of the seized container, in addition to uncovering all those involved in the criminal network linked to this case, as well as monitoring its local and international extensions.
