This partnership is structured around several strategic pillars. It provides for the transfer of expertise, with the Casablanca Stock Exchange sharing its technical and operational know-how to support the Ethiopian Securities Exchange (ESX) in key areas such as technological development, risk management, and operational optimisation. Furthermore, the financial reforms implemented in Morocco since 1993, such as the launch of the futures market and the integration of the New Development Model, will serve as a reference to support Ethiopia. This collaboration aims to strengthen economic ties between the two countries by fostering bilateral investments and trade exchanges between the Moroccan and Ethiopian business communities.
The two institutions also plan to develop joint initiatives, such as dual listings, joint financial products, or financial education programmes. Moreover, they intend to advocate together for regulatory frameworks that promote the integration and development of African markets on the regional and international stage.
A particular emphasis will be placed on promoting ESG practices (Environmental, Social, and Governance), which are crucial for attracting responsible investments and supporting sustainable growth.
Through this agreement, the Casablanca Stock Exchange and the ESX share a common goal: to expand access to stock market financing, improve market liquidity, and accelerate the economic development of their countries while strengthening African financial integration.
