The grand prize was awarded to the film ''It's just a chair'', while the best director and editing awards were given to the film ''Illusion'', two works directed by inmates of the Reform and Rehabilitation Centre under the Aïn Sbaâ local prison in Casablanca. As for the best cinematography award, it went to the film ''A canvas in memory'' directed by inmates at the Beni Mellal local prison, while the film ''Duvet'' (Khouribga local prison) won the acting and screenplay award.
This closing ceremony, organised before an audience of artists and film professionals, was marked by the screening of short films made by inmates of the three penal institutions that hosted the activities of this festival, organised from 3 to 13 December under the theme ''Beauty can save the world''.
Speaking on this occasion, the director of the Reform and Rehabilitation Centre under the Aïn Sbaâ local prison in Casablanca, Abdessalam Sahli, indicated that this event is in line with initiatives to promote the creative potential of minor inmates as well as the promotion of noble human values through art.
An approach that aims to facilitate their reintegration within the framework of a new generation of rehabilitation programmes designed by the General Delegation for Prison Administration and Reintegration (DGAPR), he stressed.
For her part, Fatna El Bouih, director of the Oukacha Film Festival and also president of the Relais Prison-Society association, praised this commendable initiative supported by the aforementioned penal institutions, noting that this edition was marked by the contribution of the Moroccan Centre for Image Education.
She stated, in this regard, that the mentoring of minor inmates was provided by young graduates of the said centre as part of introductory workshops on cinematic practices, in addition to training sessions in the field of visual arts and crafts.
