This event, organised by the Rotary Club of Casablanca, falls within the framework of the Rotary Club's cultural action plan, which aims to promote culture and education within society, and to strengthen social ties and the values of humanity and citizenship.
This cultural event, which was marked by the presence, in particular, of the Governor of the Casablanca-Anfa prefecture, Mr. Aziz Dades, and a number of Rotary members and other prominent figures, also comes within a series of activities aimed at improving the living conditions of young people and promoting their development and well-being.
Throughout this evening, the poet Ben Yahia was able to captivate the audience present with readings from his collection "Patch-words II: Love in Poetry", a work that explores the multiple dimensions of love that blends emotions, reflections, and poetic beauty through moving verses.
In a speech on the occasion, Mr. Ben Yahia said that "Poetry is a universal language, a bridge between souls and hearts. Through this collection, I wanted to explore love in all its forms, which is the feeling that unites us and transcends everyone. I am honoured to be able to share this work during this distinguished evening, in an atmosphere of cultural richness and inspiration".
Mr. Ben Yahia, who is also a mission officer at the Royal Cabinet, pointed out that "this cultural and artistic meeting is an opportunity to reaffirm that poetry, beyond words, is a universal art capable of transcending time, eras, and cultural boundaries, and allows us to touch the deepest spiritual aspects of the human being: love, memory, and the search for meaning".
He added: "On this occasion, I would like to mention that even during hardships and challenges, poetry offers us a form of resistance and a path to reconciliation with ourselves and with the world around us".
For his part, Ahmed Ben Majdoub, advisor to the President of the Rotary Club, praised the organisation of this cultural meeting "which falls within the framework of our communication and cultural action plan", highlighting that it is an opportunity to "strengthen our solidarity mission and promote culture, while contributing to concrete initiatives for the well-being of society".
Mr. Ben Majdoub also emphasised the importance of these cultural events to strengthen social ties and consolidate educational work in the region: "This evening is a perfect example of what we want to achieve at the Rotary Club, by combining culture, solidarity, and support for education. We are proud of our ability to offer these moments of sharing and reflection, while contributing to concrete initiatives to improve the lives of children and young people".
The evening concluded with a signing session for Mr. Ben Yahia's collection, which allowed the attendees to interact and exchange with the author and extend the time of this exceptional cultural meeting.
It should be noted that this poetry evening was preceded by the Rotary Club organising an eye examination operation at a school in the region, "Ibn Al-Kathir School", where over 200 children were examined, and glasses were provided to about 50 children to improve their visual comfort and their ability to read and study.
Rotary is an association that brings together local actors belonging to the business, academic, and liberal professions sectors, who dedicate their efforts to humanitarian work and observe the rules of integrity in the practice of any profession, as well as promoting understanding between peoples.
