The local authorities of the Wilaya of the Souss-Massa region announced the discovery, on Monday afternoon in a ravine in a forest area adjacent to the beach in the commune of Tamri, of the body of a man, in an advanced state of decomposition.
The body could be that of the Belgian tourist who has been missing since the end of last November, pending the results of the genetic expertise on the DNA samples of the deceased, they specified.
Initial observations on the ground and personal effects discovered at the top of the ravine support the hypothesis that the victim lost their life following a fall, the same sources added.
The Royal Gendarmerie services have opened a judicial investigation, under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor's office, to determine the circumstances and the ins and outs of this incident, the local authorities specified, noting that the victim's body has been made available for an autopsy in order to collect genetic fingerprints, submit them to the necessary analyses and expert assessments, and proceed with any comparisons and matches.
