Agadir: ban on harvesting and marketing of shellfish products from Tamri-Cap Ghir and Imi Ouaddar
"The results of analyses carried out by the National Institute of Fisheries Research (INRH) in the classified shellfish farming areas of Tamri-Cap Ghir and Imi Ouaddar, in the Agadir region, indicate the presence of marine toxins in mussels at levels exceeding the permitted standards," stated the Secretariat of State for Maritime Fisheries in a press release.

Consequently, consumers are advised to only purchase packaged products bearing identification health labels and sold at authorised points of sale (official markets).

Shellfish products sold door-to-door or in bulk offer no guarantee of safety and constitute a danger to public health, the press release concludes.
