The first Contemporary Art Centre will be inaugurated at the end of July in Tetouan, as part of the strengthening of cultural infrastructure, particularly that related to visual arts. According to a statement from the organisers, the opening ceremony will be marked by an exhibition of works by the visual artist Hassan Echair, whose chosen themes are in line with the general vision of the centre, which aims to promote creations from Moroccan and international visual art schools.
The centre will also see the exhibition of works by several Tetouan artists, including Saïd El Massari, Selfati Ilyas, and Mounya Touiyis, which will subsequently be presented in global galleries, including Dubai Art, Arc Fiac, and Art Basel, as part of the exchange of experiences and the strengthening of cultural ties in the Arab world.
The centre is expected to include exhibition and conference halls, a restaurant specialising in authentic Mediterranean and Moroccan gastronomy, and a space dedicated to the exhibition of photos, audiovisual recordings, and books.
