The AUSIM 2026 Assises have just concluded: The Moroccan experience in AI and digital sovereignty highlighted in Tangier
This event, attended by some 1,200 participants, was marked by a series of plenary sessions, keynotes, thematic workshops, and feedback sessions. Information Technologies: This event served to reiterate Morocco's ambitions through the implementation of a digital roadmap "Morocco AI 2030", aiming to make the Kingdom an African leader in the field of information technologies. The eighth edition of the Assises of the Association of Users of Information Systems in Morocco (AUSIM) - which concluded on Friday, October 9 in Tangier - lived up to its promises by establishing itself as a platform for exchange and dialogue on digital challenges and the future of the Moroccan technological ecosystem. This event, attended by some 1,200 participants including executives, IT directors, public decision-makers, and Moroccan and international experts, was marked by a series of plenary sessions, keynotes, thematic workshops, and feedback sessions that allowed for the confrontation of perspectives on artificial intelligence (AI), value creation, data governance, and technological sovereignty. Based on the progress of the "Morocco AI 2030" roadmap, these two days of exchange and dialogue allowed for the presentation of "AI achievements: moving from the era of experimentation to industrialisation within the company," explained Mohamed Saad, president of AUSIM. After its seven previous editions held in Marrakech, the AUSIM 2026 Assises were held, according to the speaker, in Tangier, a city known as being between two continents and two seas, and for hosting structuring projects such as the Tangier-Med port complex, thus embodying Morocco's ambition to accelerate development in terms of AI-related infrastructure and technologies. "Morocco aims to become a true AI hub in Africa," said Mr. Saad, while expressing Morocco's interest in helping and encouraging leaders and entrepreneurs to integrate "AI at the heart of their growth and development." Held under the High Patronage of HM King Mohammed VI, the debates of this eighth edition focused on the major challenges of digital transformation, AI, Data, Cloud, cybersecurity, and digital sovereignty in Morocco. This event highlighted Morocco's ambitions through the implementation of a digital roadmap "Morocco AI 2030", aiming to make the Kingdom an African leader in the field of information technologies. "Digital sovereignty is built by mastering infrastructure, data, computing power, and artificial intelligence models, as well as by developing national skills," said Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni, Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, during her keynote on "AI Made in Morocco: the speed of conquering sovereignty." The speaker stressed the vision of the supervisory department for a frugal, inclusive, and responsible AI, developed in Morocco for Morocco, and open to the international community. "This ambition links the modernisation of the administration, the improvement of public services, and the development of the digital economy," she stated, noting that Morocco has adopted a roadmap "Morocco AI 2030", aiming to contribute 100 billion dirhams to GDP, create 50,000 jobs, and train 200,000 talents by 2030. On the partnership front, Orange Morocco seized the opportunity to announce three technological collaborations with Red Hat, RUCKUS, and Axis Communications, focusing on the development of sovereign cloud, intelligent networks, and artificial intelligence applications in businesses. The group thus reaffirms its commitment to strengthening its digital offering for administrations and concerned businesses. Receive the latest news from Aujourd'hui Le Maroc directly on WhatsApp
