To introduce Amazigh culture and allow it to meet the cultures of the rest of the Mediterranean, Africa, and the world, such is the main objective of the Twiza Festival of Tangier, organised for its 10th edition from 14 to 17 August 2014. At the origin of this event is the Foundation of the Mediterranean Festival of Amazigh Culture of Tangier. The latter has chosen to honour Africa by planning a series of conferences-debates and round tables around the theme "Africa for Africans". "Today, for our tenth anniversary, we have insisted on focusing on Plural Morocco and its belonging to Africa, through the powerful historical ties that we maintain with our continent and the economic and cultural exchange that must imperatively continue to develop between all African cultures," stresses Fouad Omari, president of the Foundation. Beyond the intellectual aspect, the Twiza festival will receive artists from the four corners of the continent for concerts placed under the sign of the celebration of common roots, respect, and exchange. It will thus welcome great stars such as Cheb Mami, Ismael Lô, Tiken Jah Fakoli, Idir, Muslim, or Saad Lamjarred. Apart from music, the festival also offers a set of cultural activities, notably film and documentary screenings and theatre sessions. Thus, to allow the greatest number of people to enjoy the festival's programming, the organisers have put in place an important logistical system, all along the seafront boulevard and the beach of Tangier. The main stage will be located at the Corniche Gardens, while the second will be installed next to the free zone in the commune of Gzenaya, as well as a third on the main square of Beni Makada. Finally, an Amazigh tent, the "Choukri Tent", hosting the round tables and meetings, will be set up on the 9th of April Square, the Grand Socco of Tangier, opposite the Cinémathèque which will host the cinema section of the festival.
