H.R.H. Prince Moulay Rachid presided, on Saturday, over the official ceremony of the tenth edition of the Moussem of TanTan, organized from June 4 to 9 under the High Patronage of HM King Mohammed VI under the theme "Intangible cultural heritage and its role in the development and rapprochement of peoples". HRH Prince Moulay Rachid, who was accompanied by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Ben Zayed Al Nahyan, representative of the ruler of Abu Dhabi in the Western Region, visited the tent of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), guest of honour of this edition, where His Royal Highness watched a performance by the Abu Dhabi exhibition arts troupe.
His Royal Highness also visited in the same tent exhibitions of handicrafts, traditional housing, and falconry, horse, and camel equipment from the United Arab Emirates. HRH Prince Moulay Rachid, accompanied by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Ben Zayed Al Nahyan, then visited the thematic tents (traditional costumes, leather goods, etc.), and watched a performance by the Hassani music group "Mnat Aichata". Subsequently, His Royal Highness, accompanied by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Ben Zayed Al Nahyan, headed to the official tent where the president of the Moussem of TanTan Foundation (Amougar) and Morocco's ambassador to Spain, Mr. Fadel Benyaich, delivered a speech.
On this occasion, Mr. Benyaich stressed the strength of the relations uniting Morocco and the UAE, which have become a model to follow thanks to the common will of HM King Mohammed VI and H.H. Sheikh Khalifa Ben Zayed Al Nahyan, especially since these are relations based on mutual respect and fruitful cooperation in several fields, he said. For his part, Mohamed Khalaf Al Mazroui, advisor to the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, indicated that the "remarkable" relations uniting Morocco and the UAE are the result of a process rich in exchanges, adding that the participation of the UAE in the Moussem of TanTan aims to bring a qualitative added value to this event.
Subsequently, HRH Prince Moulay Rachid, accompanied by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Ben Zayed Al Nahyan, watched a performance of a Sahrawi wedding and a Moroccan-Emirati show presented by the Abu Dhabi exhibition arts troupe and the Bab Assahara Hassani music troupe, before presiding over the prize-giving ceremony. On this occasion, His Royal Highness presented H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Ben Zayed Al Nahyan with the best breeder prize, consisting of two female camels offered by the agricultural chamber of the Guelmim-Smara region.
HRH Prince Moulay Rachid subsequently received "The Shield of Consecration", dedicated to HM King Mohammed VI, from the American Explorers Club.
At the end of the ceremony, HRH Prince Moulay Rachid, accompanied by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Ben Zayed Al Nahyan, watched a Tbourida (fantasia) show, performed by riders from the different regions of the Kingdom.
Upon his arrival at the site of the official ceremony, HRH Prince Moulay Rachid reviewed a detachment of the auxiliary forces that was rendering honours, before being greeted by the Minister of Agriculture and Maritime Fisheries, the Minister of Tourism, the Minister of Culture, and the Minister Delegate to the Minister of the Interior. HRH Prince Moulay Rachid was also greeted by the Wali of the Guelmim-Smara region, governor of the province of Guelmim, the president of the Council of the Guelmim-Smara region, and the governor of the province of TanTan, as well as by civilian and military personalities.
