The city of Tan Tan is hosting the twelfth edition of the Tan Tan Moussem from 13 to 18 May, under the theme "The Tan-Tan Moussem, confluence of a plural Morocco," at the initiative of the Almouggar Foundation. Placed under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the Tan-Tan Moussem, one of the Kingdom's most important cultural events, highlights intangible heritage, age-old tradition, and the attachment of the Kingdom's southern provinces to their origins and traditions, the Foundation indicates in a statement.
Classified in 2005 as a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO and inscribed in 2008 on the Representative List of this heritage, the festival plans a range of activities this year that will take place at the Place of Peace and Tolerance, reflecting the richness of the cultural heritage of the country's twelve regions. This edition, which will see the participation of the United Arab Emirates, comes in an economic and political context that requires a new strategy for the valorisation of intangible and cultural heritage by establishing it as a factor for the region's sustainable development.
