In the village of Hansala, which is one of the remote areas in Beni Mellal located in the Takzert rural commune, local authorities are actively involved in completing the distribution of food rations to beneficiaries to help them during this extremely cold period.
This operation, which comes in implementation of the High Instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI to take emergency measures through the comprehensive mobilisation of all logistical means as well as human resources, to provide support and assistance to citizens to face the cold wave experienced by several regions of the Kingdom, includes the distribution of food, firewood, and blankets.
At the level of the Beni Mellal province, an ambitious action plan has been prepared in anticipation of difficult weather conditions, targeting 9 communes: Aghbala, Tizi N'Isly, Boutferda, Naour, Ait Oum El Bekht, Takzert, Tanougha, Foum El Anceur, and Foum Oudi.
These communes include 75 Douars located at an altitude of 1,500 metres, with a total population of 35,720 inhabitants, or 7,440 households.
Within the framework of implementing the national plan to mitigate the effects of the cold wave during the 2024-2025 winter season, the provincial committee for vigilance, monitoring, and evaluation has been activated to ensure the normal supply of basic food items and various heating means, while ensuring the provision and distribution of livestock feed.
In this regard, all logistical and human resources have been mobilised to break the isolation of areas threatened by snowfall, as well as to ensure that villages are permanently connected to the telephone network, in addition to appropriate intervention to care for pregnant women and people suffering from chronic diseases.
Within the framework of this regional plan, local authorities have identified 205 pregnant women whose due date coincides with the implementation of the plan, and 24 homeless people who will be transferred to safe spaces.
The plan includes important proactive measures, including a flood prevention strategy, strengthening the stock of essential medicines, especially for the treatment of chronic diseases, in health centres near areas affected by harsh weather conditions, as well as intensifying medical campaigns aimed at their populations, while ensuring the transfer of urgent cases to specialised care institutions.
In statements to the Maghreb Arabe Presse (MAP), a number of residents of the village of Hansala expressed their deep gratitude to His Majesty King Mohammed VI for the high solicitude that His Majesty continues to show to the populations of areas affected by the bitter cold, praising the smoothness that characterises the progress of this operation and the efforts made by local authorities to help them during this extremely cold period.
In implementation of the High Instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the services of the Ministry of the Interior, along with all relevant ministries and departments and various stakeholders, have mobilised to take emergency measures through the comprehensive mobilisation of all logistical means as well as human resources, to provide support and assistance to citizens to face the cold wave experienced by a number of regions of the Kingdom.
In this regard, the Walis of the regions and Governors of the concerned provinces have been urged to mobilise to ensure the monitoring of the evolution of the situation, coordinate intervention operations, and take the necessary proactive and precautionary measures through a set of measures to ease the burden on the population.
