Lute, "ney", and violin in unison

Haj Youness, Rachid Zeroual, and Amir Ali offered an exceptional concert as part of the evenings at the La Renaissance hall.
Lute, "ney", and violin in unison

A journey to the heart is what the three concert performers, Haj Youness, Rachid Zeroual, and Amir Ali, proposed. Their music is the fruit of work and exchange between three undisputed masters and, moreover, confirmed virtuosos, each in their own instrument. Rare pearls, whose refined product does not leave one indifferent. "It is true that I have given concerts in several countries of the world. But today's concert has a very particular flavour. I am truly honoured to be alongside these two greats of music. Rachid Zeroual is for me the best musician of the "ney" and the "kawala" in the Arab world, then Amir is a rare pearl in violin playing," underlines the lute concert performer and professor Haj Youness. Each has one of the most brilliant backgrounds and diverse enriching experiences in the company of national and foreign artists. Indeed, it is a question of three heavyweights in the musical universe who animated this concert by interpreting certain musical works by Rachid Zeroual, notably "Andalusian Blues" with improvisations on the flute and the "kawala", "Andalusian Gardens", then a work by Jalal Eddine Rumi, also written by Rachid Zeroual. Another repertoire was evoked that evening by this special trio, including "Chad Arabane", a work written by the master Jamil Beck Tambouri in 1696. A piece very dear to Haj Youness who considers his Turkish composer as his spiritual master. Another by the musician Mohamed Abdelwaheb, then that of the Moroccan composer Ahmed Al Bidaoui. Beautiful musical works that seduced the audience keen on this type of music. An audience under the charm of this performance full of mastery and precision.

The ingenious trio

Haj Youness (lute), Rachid Zeroual (ney and kawala), and Amir Ali (violin) form a singular trio commensurate with the talent of each of these artists, as confirmed as the other. The first is considered one of the greatest lute players, having received several prizes and distinctions, notably the Golden Lute from the hands of the late His Majesty King Hassan II, as well as the Ziryab for virtuosos, sponsored by the International Music Council of UNESCO. The second is none other than the expert of the "ney" who has collaborated with internationally renowned artists and composed several musical works and other film scores that also earned him being consecrated by the Ziryab for virtuosos. The third talent of the trio has also led a brilliant career as leader of the group Mo'Rockin, while working with multiple artists and renowned stars such as the great bassist Victor Wooten, Steve Bailey, Al Di Meola, Khaled, and even Don Was.
