Moroccan rap takes the stage at Mawazine

On the sixth day of the Mawazine Festival, the Salé stage hosts, this evening, the cream of Moroccan rap. With rappers Chaht-Man and Don Bigg as well as the group H-Kayne on the programme, three well-known names on the national scene, who promise to offer festival-goers a colourful show.

Fans of urban music, particularly rap, will attend a grandiose and lively spectacle mixing breathtaking rhythms and sounds, the latter reassure.

Chaht-Man will kick off this evening from 9:15 pm. The excellent dancer and choreographer with highly inspired and committed lyrics truly distinguished himself within the successful rap group Casa Crew. Before embarking on a solo career in 2010 which led to the release of an album entitled "Attawria". This first solo attempt found a wide echo with the public and earned the artist national recognition.

Composed of five artists from Meknes, the group H-Kayne will take the stage right after. Winner of the first Prize at the Boulevard 2003, the group released shortly after the first rap album in the country's history.

Since then, H-Kayne has recorded two opuses which earned the performers of the song Kolna Mgharba international recognition. H-Kayne is considered one of the heavyweights of Moroccan rap.

Renowned for his provocative lyrics with a raw and committed style, Don Bigg will close this evening in style. This other great figure of rap strings together hits and attracts hundreds of thousands of spectators to each of his concerts. It must be said that his tracks, like “Mgharba Tal Mout” and “Byed ou Khel”, are very popular in the young rap scene. And reflect the concerns of Moroccan youth. Which earns him a lot of esteem and success.

As a reminder, the Salé stage (located on the other side of the Bouregreg) hosts throughout this event the great figures of Moroccan song. Since the opening of this great event, groups and artists such as Ghiwan Salwan, Jil Ghiwan Jalal, Siham, Mjid Bekkas, Jbara, Loonope and The Basement, among others, have followed one another there.

The day before, the public enjoyed M. Boy, Barry, Casa Crew and Hamid Kasri.

Organised by the Maroc-Cultures Association, the 12th edition of the Mawazine-Rhythms of the World Festival is being held until 1 June next.
