The Fès-Saïss Association celebrates March 8

The Fès-Saïss Association celebrates Moroccan women on the occasion of "International Women's Day". As has become customary in recent years, it pays tribute to Moroccan personalities who work for the development of our country and awards the "Fès Golden Gate" Trophies, created at the initiative of the Association's "Women's" section since 2008. The Trophy, which represents the "Gate of Fès", is, according to Leila Bennis, head of the Women's Commission, a symbol of openness and dialogue, history and sharing, a door open to a promising future for Moroccan citizens and future generations.

During the "Fès Golden Gate 2012", which will take place on Saturday, March 17, tributes will be paid to iconic personalities from the worlds of business, media and arts, culture, associations, and the judiciary. "In a spirit of openness, whether they are women or men, the nominees are personalities who have accomplished significant action towards women or in favour of the development and influence of our country," specifies Leila Bennis. Thus, trophies will be awarded to women who are marking the history of women in Morocco through their activism, such as Jamila Sedi, Moroccan Liaison Magistrate to the Belgian judicial authorities in Brussels; Fathia Bennis, CEO of Maroclear and President of the Women’s Tribune; and Najat Rochdi, Deputy Director of Policy, Communication & Operations at the UNDP.

The Association also plans to honour men for their active participation in the international influence of Morocco on the cultural and economic levels, such as André Azoulay, Advisor to H.M. King Mohammed VI and a man of peace and dialogue in the world; Mohamed El Kettani, CEO of Attijariwafa bank, who has opted for a positive "gender" approach in the managerial organisational chart of this institution; and Abdelouahab Doukkali, a great Moroccan musician originally from Fès, in recognition of his immense musical heritage.
