It's an excellent idea. Starting from a deficit in organisation, skills and professional structures in the world of music, its management and its visibility, the Visa For Music event, which will take place from 12 to 15 November 2014 in Rabat, aims to rethink music, its entourage, its development, its marketing for a better adaptation of the legal framework by putting in place a real political vision for the sector. It was time to have such a reflection on one of the foundations of culture and the Arts, not only in Morocco, but also in Africa and the Arab World. The goal for the organisers is clear: "to give Morocco, Africa and the Middle East a platform for visibility and an environment conducive to creativity, professionalisation and entrepreneurship in the cultural sector." In this participatory spirit, this event is already announcing itself as the first professional music platform in Morocco, Africa and the Middle East. Indeed, Visa For Music is positioning itself as the "unmissable international market for world music and contemporary music for these territories, and as the interprofessional platform for the music industry in Morocco and for the countries of the South," as highlighted by the director of this fair, Brahim El Mazned. The highlight of this meeting, highly anticipated by professionals in the sector and artists of all stripes, is to set up a music market in Africa and the Middle East. When we see the state of the market today, we realise the urgency of correcting the situation and laying the foundations for a real commercial structure worthy of the name for music throughout this region of the world. Because the market is currently failing at a time when it should be accompanying this wealth and diversity characterising the Moroccan, Arab and African musical scene, which is going through one of the most abundant periods in terms of creativity and vision. This is therefore the approach of Brahim El Mazned and his collaborators who are aware that art and culture are real engines of human development and that without a clear vision and a rational approach, they cannot overcome the handicaps that are theirs today.
