The 1st-degree Criminal Chamber at the Rabat Court of Appeal sentenced a former Taekwondo champion on Thursday to 25 years in prison for "voluntary manslaughter with premeditation and apparent drunkenness".
The court also decided, in its sentence, to compensate the victim's children and wife with 50,000 dirhams each, and 80,000 dirhams to each of his parents.
The facts of this case date back to October 30, 2011, in the Al Menzeh district of Rabat, when the accused (Aicha K.) struck the victim (Younes K.), a butcher by trade, with a bladed weapon, killing him instantly.
Judicial police officers arrested the accused, who was in a state of intoxication, and seized the murder weapon.
