After the Mohammed VI International Cup, Moroccan karatekas had a new opportunity to sharpen their weapons last weekend, in anticipation of the next African Cup of Nations. Organised by the Royal Moroccan Karate and Associated Disciplines Federation in partnership with the Meknès Atlas association, the 15th edition of the Throne Cup for Team Karate (Kata and Kumite) took place at the Khénifra sports hall on 21 and 22 June. The top step of the podium for men went to the Oknawa Fès Association of the Northern League, which was able to count on the liveliness of its karatekas to lift the trophy last Sunday. For the ladies, it was the Sadaka Bouknadal Association that stood out and was crowned champion. The two winners had to battle for two days against stiff competition, since this year's edition was marked by the participation of 19 men's teams and 8 women's teams, from 21 sports associations and representing ten regional leagues. The men's podium was completed by the Riad Sport Association (Casa North League) which took second place in the tournament, followed by the Mawahib Association (Northern League) of Fès and Nasr Tanger (Boughaz). The ladies, for their part, saw second place taken by the Sadaka Fès association (Northern League), while Noujoum Education (Northern League) and the CODM (Meknès Atlas) finished third in the competition. Organised in partnership with the Meknès Atlas association, the Tighza Atlas Development association and the Achbal Tighza association, this event is also part of the preparations of the national elements to take part in the next senior African championships scheduled from 10 to 16 August at the Stadium Marius Ndiaye in Dakar. Another no less important appointment awaits Moroccan karatekas, namely the next world championships which will take place from 5 to 9 November in Bremen, Germany.
