A campaign to collect 1 million DH for the benefit of the education sector in the Ifrane province will be organized on April 16, at the initiative of the Al Akhawayn University solidarity association "Hand in Hand." Through its annual "Fun Run" event, which is an essential and necessary event for fundraising, "Hand in Hand" aims to collect one million dirhams for the rehabilitation and upgrading of several schools in the region. According to the association, the objective of this 19th edition of the "Fun Run" is to provide students in the province with a place conducive to education, as well as to finance the digital literacy project which aims to equip schools in the region with computers. The day's program includes a morning race which will take place in the presence of several Moroccan athletes and a gala evening with the participation of artists Youssef Akdim, Douzi (Abdelhafid Douzi), and Farid Ghannam. The comedian Benkiki (Othmane Benkirane), himself a graduate of Al Akhawayn University, will also be part of the evening. Created in 1996, the "Hand in Hand" Association aims to promote the schooling of young girls in rural areas and to contribute to improving the living conditions of the destitute populations of Ifrane and its region, through social actions such as building schools, distributing school bags, or creating cooperatives. In the school field, the association provides support for supplying schools with water and electricity, equipping school libraries, and putting into service student transport to fight against non-schooling and school dropout of children in rural areas. It also organizes awareness campaigns among parents to encourage the schooling of young girls in rural areas, provides regular support classes for the benefit of students of Dar Talib and the girls' boarding school in Ifrane, and proceeds to the distribution of computers and the development of multimedia spaces. In the field of health, "Hand in Hand" contributes to the fight against eye diseases in schools, in partnership with national and international NGOs, and organizes medical caravans in rural areas, just as it is involved in the distribution of firewood and clothing and shoes to help rural populations cope with bad weather conditions and the cold of winter. Thanks to the funds collected during previous "Fun Runs," the association has undertaken the purchase of 5 school buses for children in the Ifrane region and 1 for the disabled, the construction of a community school in Ain Khil and a non-formal education center in Azrou, as well as the installation of central heating at Dar Taliba in Dayet Aoua.
