Thanks in particular to the Amal Smara Association: The Al Maâri public school repainted as new on a voluntary basis

"We want to bring a smile back to pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds." This is how the managers of Akzo Nobel described the painting operation at the Al Maâri public school located in Hay Mohammadi, in partnership with the Amal Smara Association for development and social actions.

"Through this action, we intend to allow the pupils of this school to study in better conditions and to flourish in a place conducive to learning," Lahcen Chatir, general manager of this company, told us. According to him, this action, called "Let’s color week," is part of a week organised by the company for the third consecutive year. To do this, several painting workshops were set up by all the members of the company with a view to creating a giant mural.

For his part, Yassine Abidi, president of Amal Smara, indicated to us that the said company quickly committed itself to his association, which aims to raise awareness among people and collect donations for the benefit of the development of the Smara district.

"What is important is that all citizens encourage these young people who sacrifice their time and sometimes their own money," a pupil's father told us. It should be remembered that some paint manufacturers have recently initiated social actions or actions in favour of Casablanca's places of memory and monuments. The most relevant of these actions was initiated by Facop, which repainted the entire facade of the Morandi building, which, as everyone knows, was built between 1949 and 1950 by the Swiss architect Léonard René Morandi. Better known as the 17-storey building, this structure has gone down in history as the first "residential skyscraper" in North Africa.
