Blue lights at Place Mohammed V in Fez

The Collectif Autisme Maroc organized, on Saturday at Place Mohammed V in Fez, a projection of blue lights (Light it up blue) in celebration of World Autism Day.

According to Ahmed Baghdadi, a member of the collective and the Mirror for the Autistic Child Association in Fez, these blue lights illuminated the sky of several Moroccan cities to promote the rights of people with autism and to raise awareness about the importance of supporting their families.

This is a national autism campaign organized under the theme "I am different like you" in the cities of Rabat, Casablanca, Tetouan, Ouazzane, Fez, Meknes, Larache, Marrakech, Beni Mellal, Fqih Bensaleh, El Jadida, Safi, Agadir, and Dakhla, he specified.

Initiated in partnership with Enactus FMP, "Light it up blue" is an event that consists of illuminating one or more monuments in different cities at the same time with blue lights, as a commemoration of World Autism Day, explained Ahmed Baghdadi.

This year, the campaign will be focused on Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), a technique that has improved the quality of life of thousands of autistic people and their families around the world, knowing that an autistic child diagnosed early and benefiting from quality behavioral supervision has the best chances of following normal schooling.

In this context, a caravan will travel through the 12 regions of the Kingdom to collect signatures with the objective of institutionalizing this technique, he said, adding that the kick-off of this action will be given in Dakhla and will end in Oujda.

Created by eight associations in 2006 following the year of autism, the Collectif Autisme Maroc is a national network that currently brings together 32 parents' associations working for the improvement of the living conditions of autistic people in the different regions of the Kingdom.
