Encouraging and perpetuating the practice of authentic art, as an essential component of Moroccan cultural identity. Fes vibrates to the rhythm of religious chants performed by great masters of Madih and Samaa.
Sublime religious chants performed by great masters of Madih and Samaa kicked off, on Friday night in Fes, days of festivities initiated on the occasion of the Moussem of Moulay Idriss Al Azhar, founder of the Kingdom's spiritual capital.
By enlivening the first evening of this annual event in the most beautiful way, which also falls within the framework of the 18th National Festival of Madih and Samaa (15-17 October), the Madihine succeeded in perpetuating the message of this edition "Samaa and the values of coexistence and human love", aiming to revalue and preserve this authentic art rooted in the spirit of several generations.
These festivities take place in the Moulay Idriss mausoleum as well as in a number of Zaouias of the Idrissid city, including that of Sidi Ali Jamal, Al Ouazzanya, or even Addarkaouya, known for their important role in the dissemination and flourishing of Sufism and Madih.
According to the organisers, the choice of these Zaouias to host these Madih and Samaa sessions is dictated by the constant concern to rehabilitate and safeguard the ancestral spiritual role that these places of worship fulfil.
The initiators of this cultural event, which has become an unmissable meeting for enthusiasts and fans of this art, have concocted a rich and diversified programme that gives pride of place to concerts and shows, scheduled in various spaces of the city.
Initiated by the urban commune of the city, the 18th edition of the National Festival of Madih and Samaa sees the participation of numerous orchestras from different regions of Morocco.
Considered one of the major cultural events of the Kingdom's spiritual capital, this annual artistic meeting aims to encourage and perpetuate the practice of the authentic art of Madih and Samaa, as an essential component of Moroccan cultural identity.
The Madih and Samaa Festival, dedicated to the preservation of both local and national cultural and artistic heritage, is part of, alongside the Festivals of Sacred Music, the art of Malhoun, Andalusian music, Sufi culture, and Amazigh culture, the major artistic events organised in the Kingdom's spiritual capital.
