Fes Sacred Music: journeys with Tomatito and Youssou Ndour

'The human adventure of meeting, exchanges, conflicts, influences... the journey of cultures.' This is what the Fes Festival of World Sacred Music evokes this year, scheduled from 13 to 21 June 2014. This 20th edition is placed under the theme 'Journey of Cultures'. The festival thus aims to be a hymn to diversity and fruitful exchanges between people of different religions and from all regions. Various cultures will be represented. It includes opera with the Franco-Italian tenor Roberto Alagna, and flamenco with the virtuoso guitarist, the Spaniard Tomatito. Africa will also be in the spotlight with the Senegalese Youssou Ndour, the South African Johnny Clegg, and the Malian Rokia Traoré. We also mention the participation of Kadim Saher, a great name in Arab song. Morocco will be represented by a panel of artists during the opening evening. Also during an Arab-Judeo-Andalusian evening hosted by Moroccan artists of Muslim and Jewish faiths. On the sidelines of this event, the unmissable Fes Forum 'A Soul for Globalisation' (from 14 to 18 June) will pay tribute to the personality of Nelson Mandela, as a militant and politician, of spirituality and cultural diversity.
