HRH Princess Lalla Salma was then greeted by the Wali of the Fez-Boulemane region, Mohamed Dardouri, the President of the "Spirit of Fez" Foundation, the President of the Fez-Boulemane Regional Council, the Commander of the Garrison, the President of the Prefectural Assembly, the President of the Mechouar Fez-Jdid Commune, the Director General of the "Spirit of Fez" Foundation, as well as by members of the organising committee of this 19th edition of the Festival. Subsequently, Her Royal Highness watched the festival's inaugural show under the theme "Love is my religion", a poetic fresco of the history of Andalusia through dance, song, poetry, music, and filmed projections. The Fez Festival of World Sacred Music celebrates this year, from 7 to 15 June, Andalusian culture which, for more than eight centuries, was able to combine Amazigh, Arab, Iberian, Roman, and Visigothic cultures and bring together in a single melting pot the cultures of the East and the West, according to the "Spirit of Fez" Foundation, which organises the event.

After the official opening ceremony, events will follow one another until next Saturday at the city's historic sites (Bab Al Makina, Dar Mokri, Dar Adiyel, Bab Boujloud Square, and Jnane Sbil), with a rich programme of concerts performed by artists, carriers of messages of peace and spirituality, who have come from the four corners of the world, notably from Mongolia, Greece, Turkey, Mauritania, Spain, Lebanon, India, Martinique, Egypt, Algeria, Bhutan, Portugal, Syria, Palestine, the United States, France, and Morocco. The Festival will offer the general public free concerts, exhibitions, Sufi evenings, educational activities, as well as artistic activities. Also on the programme is the Forum "A Soul for Globalisation", the unmissable annual meeting for intellectuals, artists, and politicians from around the world, on the theme "New Andalusias: local solutions for a global disorder".
