International Trans-Saharan Film Festival: After the screenings, training

The seventh edition of the International Trans-Saharan Film Festival, which will take place from 27 to 30 May, will pay tribute this year to actress Fatima Regragui, one of the pioneers of Moroccan cinema and theatre in the 1950s. This year, the focus will be on American cinema through the screening of films related to the desert. Among them are "Hidalgo" by Joe Johnston, "Arizona Dream" by Emir Kusturica, and "Lawrence of Arabia" by David Lean. The absence of competition between films allows for the promotion of artistic creation, notably through a screenplay competition where the ten winners will benefit from support from film professionals.

Another highlight of this edition is the awareness-raising workshops on the seventh art scheduled by the organisers of the meeting.

Several schools are involved in this programme, such as the Errouha school, where a meeting will take place around the film "Heritage and Biodiversity", which won the Grand Prix at the ninth Fez Educational Film Festival.

As for high school students, they will be offered training workshops on cinematic techniques around the following themes: "New audiovisual technologies", "Three dimensions in cinema", "Film analysis and reading", and "Directing actors".

This socio-educational dimension is paramount for the organisers, whose objectives are above all to contribute to the integration of audiovisual means into the school curriculum, to strengthen the culture of the image and the acquisition of cinematic reading techniques, but above all to promote artistic creation.

This year again, the International Trans-Saharan Film Festival will be an opportunity for everyone to discover numerous international screenings and to properly honour Moroccan cinema.
