Music, Melhoun, but above all poetry. The artistic evening organised last weekend in Errachidia, at the initiative of the Arts Without Borders Association, was in fact intended to be a celebration of International Poetry Day, but also a first edition of the literary meeting. The setting being pleasant, the traditional house of arts of Lbquiâ, located in the ksar Al Hibous, is a place nicely laid out by the visual artist Said Njima, who is also president of Arts Without Borders.
"We have already started for two years the development of this old house built in adobe, and we have transformed it into a place of arts. We host various artistic activities and we want to make it a citizen house that is well viable in its environment," he said.
On the programme of this edition named after "Ali Abbas", a man of letters and intellectual from the Errachidia region, who died recently, the organisers planned to pay tribute to two poets known and recognised in the region, namely Mohamed Chaker, a poet in classical Arabic and Mustapha Abdessamie Alaoui, a popular poet of Melhoun. The public present was able to follow, through projections, the journey of these two poets, their beginnings, their poetic productions, before appreciating some readings of their latest collections.
The programmes were punctuated by musical breaks led by young local troupes, active within the house of arts. It was first the young Caméléons with their Gnawa rhythms and fusions, then Soukayna Rachdaoui, with her sublime voice, singing the beautiful and ancient Melhoun poem "Mother". And finally, a beautiful closing with what distinguishes the Tafilalet region, namely the beldi art.
