The International University of Casablanca is starting the 2014-2015 academic year on a new campus. Covering 10 hectares on the Bouskoura site, the new campus cost 1 billion DH for the construction, among other things, of teaching buildings and various spaces. It thus brings together a total of 5 buildings: the library, the building dedicated to teaching, the residences which offer a capacity of 120 beds, the sports complex, and finally the cafeteria which will partly allow students of the hotel management programme to carry out practical work. The new campus should accommodate nearly 10,000 students.
The first university in Africa of the Laureate International Universities network, the UIC aspires, through this new campus, to confirm its position at the national and continental level.
Located at the entrance to the new green city Casa Green Town, the campus is located near the Bouskoura forest and the Casa Green Golf Club, just at the entrance to the metropolis. The campus, now open to students, is composed of several spaces including classrooms, amphitheatres, laboratories, student residence, sports spaces, and administrative buildings.
Its design capitalised on the combined experience of international architectural firms specialised in this type of realisation and Moroccan architects.
Beyond international standards, the UIC campus benefits from all the expertise of the Laureate International Universities network (more than 100 campuses around the world) to set up a study and living environment at the service of the student's development. It therefore offers them an exceptional and unique living and study space in Morocco and North Africa.
The kick-off of the construction work for the new campus was announced during a press conference organised in February 2013.
Furthermore, the University intends to launch new programmes this year, notably in the field of health. The UIC Faculty of Health Sciences should thus be reinforced by the orthoptics, dental prosthesis, and psychology programmes. They will be added to the existing degrees in physiotherapy, speech therapy, and psychomotricity.
Within the framework of its School of Engineering, engineering cycles will be created, notably those of computer engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, industrial engineering, and electrical engineering. Also available from this academic year will be a degree in New Information and Communication Technology Engineering, as well as a master's in computer methods applied to business management.
Assessment of four years of existenceThe International University of Casablanca had presented, during this year, the assessment of 4 years of activities. According to said assessment, the UIC was able to distinguish itself by the quality and diversity of its training offers in perfect adequacy with the requirements of the labour market, and notably through the organisation of training grouped into four poles: Faculty of Health Sciences, Faculty of Commerce and Management, School of Engineering, and Hotel and Sports Management programme. The document also highlights that the UIC has a high-level teaching staff (nearly 75% of the permanent teaching staff has a doctorate and 70% has significant international experience). The University also has the accreditation of its programmes, more than 80 international and national academic partnerships, and a research laboratory in management sciences.
