The National Initiative for Human Development (INDH) is committed to strengthening its support for income-generating activities (AGR) in the rural province of Fahs-Anjra. This was affirmed by the participants in a study and reflection day held on Monday 20 May, around the theme "Supporting human resource capacities: a real lever for development in the Fahs-Anjra province". It was also an opportunity to draw up the balance sheet of the INDH by the managers of this project, launched at the national level by HM Mohammed VI, on 18 May 2005. "Concerning the seven rural communes of Fahs-Anjra, the balance sheet of the actions and achievements of the INDH, during the period from 2005 to 2013, is positive. Because some 96,647 inhabitants of the province have benefited from 192 projects. These required a total envelope of more than 145 million DH", indicated Hassan Bakkali, head of the social action division at the Fahs-Anjra prefecture.
This official stressed the role of rural women in the realisation of income-generating projects, within the framework of the INDH. "Women represent 40% of all 192 projects initiated by the INDH in the Fahs-Anjra province", affirmed Mr Bakkali.
According to the data provided during this study day, the Initiative has continued, since its launch, its support for AGR in different sectors. And this by granting these income-generating projects the largest share of the total budget. Among the 192 projects completed or in the process of being completed in this rural province, "some 45 income-generating projects are initiated by the INDH and require an envelope of nearly 74 million DH. They have benefited a population of 2,431 inhabitants of this province", according to the managers of this programme in the Fahs-Anjra prefecture.
Furthermore, the financing of these 192 projects is ensured up to 51% by the National Initiative. The objective of the INDH is to improve the living conditions of the population of the Fahs-Anjra province through the realisation of projects in different sectors, including health, national education and sport. It is also a question of equipping artisan training workshops in different fields of craftsmanship. The Initiative is actively committed, within the framework of its fight against precariousness, to opening up all the Douars of this rural province by connecting them to electricity, drinking water and road networks, but also to favour their accessibility to hospital and school structures.
Note that the Fahs-Anjra province, composed of seven rural communes, has a total area of more than 740 km2 and is experiencing a population growth rate of about 2% per year.
