Amazigh and world music at Timitar

Amazigh and world music at Timitar

Timitar, the surprising festival, is back for a 12th edition. As usual, it is the capital of Souss that hosts, from 22 to 25 July, the annual meeting of Amazigh and world music. Once again, Agadir will be the theatre of popular jubilation and will bring together an increasingly large audience.

These people, thirsty for music, will come again to discover musical treasures from here and elsewhere. To this end, Moroccan and foreign artists have been invited to perform on the stages of Agadir. Coming from different horizons and singing different styles, the artists will each bring their personal touch to the festival. This year, African, Cuban, oriental, jazzy, R&B, Hip hop, Andalusian, and tarrab rhythms will make the city of Agadir vibrate and make it the symbol, for the duration of the festival, of values of tolerance and respect for differences. A programme that broadly encompasses traditional and contemporary repertoires from all continents, which will transform the city into a true exceptional meeting place where world cultures will gather and dialogue according to the language of music. With Amazigh music in the spotlight, Ahwach, Rayssa Thihit, Rayss Outajajt, Lajwad, and Ait Laati will open the ball of festivities each evening. An opportunity to rediscover with wonder these ancestral songs and dances that make up all the beauty of Amazigh culture.

Sensitive to the message delivered by Timitar, many artists have responded to its call. Starting with the Moroccan scene with Hindi Zahra, Khansa Batma, Mazagan, Daoudia, Mazagan, Don Bigg, Saida Charaf, and H Kain. Algeria will be magnificently represented by Réda Taliani. As for artists from elsewhere, Timitar will welcome the great Yuri Buena Ventura from Colombia, the famous Jordanian artist Macadi Nahhas, as well as Diana Haddad. And because Timitar is above all a story of heritage that is perpetuated, the festival will also receive Bachar Khalifa, son and successor of the famous Marcel Khalife. Groups will not be left out! Also taking part will be the Chekara Flamenco orchestra, the genius lutenist Rabeh Abou Khalil, and Ricordo Ribeiro, as well as the great Agadir star Driss Maloumi and his troupe, Driss & Co, known throughout the world...
