The 11th edition of the "Cinema and Migration" Festival will be held from 11 to 15 November, with the participation of several Moroccan and foreign actors, artists and directors of different sensibilities, according to the organisers. Placed under the High Patronage of HM King Mohammed VI, this event, organised by the Cultural Initiative Association, promises a rich and varied programme of activities and screenings. The jury for the feature film competition will be chaired by Yamina Benguigui, director, producer, former Minister Delegate in charge of La Francophonie and personal representative of the President of the French Republic for La Francophonie. The jury for the official short film competition, the result of a collaboration and partnership with the Ibn Zohr University (UIZ), will be chaired by Salah El Wadie, a Moroccan poet, novelist and human rights activist. This edition also provides for the screening of four documentary films on emigration in the presence of their directors, within the framework of a partnership with the French Institute of Agadir (IFA), in addition to a panorama of Amazigh-language cinema, featuring the screening of films representing the Moroccan cinematographic evolution in the Amazigh language. On the sidelines of the festival, masterclasses will be organised for students of various film professions and will be led by professionals, including Yamina Benguigui and Nour-eddine Lakhmari. Similarly, a conference on "female emigration" will be led by Aicha Belarbi, a Moroccan sociologist, former ambassador to the European Union and former Secretary of State for Cooperation, within the framework of a partnership with the Regional Observatory of Migration: Spaces and Societies. The organisers also plan a round table on "Film distribution in Morocco", which will be moderated by Najib Benkirane, producer and president of the Chamber of Film Distributors. The festival offers a "Migra-mômes" programme for the city's children, including screenings of animated films and tales around the theme of emigration, and awareness sessions against all forms of violence, in partnership with the "Touche pas à mon enfant" (Don't touch my child) Association, the IFA and a private school in the city.
