A country looking to the future
In Morocco, sustainable development is a national objective supported by His Majesty King Mohammed VI. An imperative: to put man at the centre of progress.
Royal commitment
The National Initiative for Human Development (INDH) is the "project of the reign", launched in May 2005 by the Moroccan sovereign. Mobilising all the actors of the country, the INDH gathers various programmes for the fight against poverty: transversal programme of social engineering, fight against precariousness, fight against social exclusion in urban areas, and fight against poverty in rural areas.
Biological diversity
Conscious of the importance of biodiversity in sustainable development, Morocco is putting in place a national strategy aiming at the preservation of its biological heritage. Throughout the territory, more than 500,000 hectares have thus been reforested with extremely varied species.
Development of the South
Morocco is determined to make the southern provinces an investment hub and a model of integrated regional development. They benefit from an unprecedented development programme. It concerns the eradication of insalubrious housing, the development of fishing villages, the strengthening of basic infrastructure as well as support for social projects, and is accompanied by a fiscal framework encouraging investment.
Managing water
Morocco has recently equipped itself with a strong and dynamic policy in the water sector. Its strategy implies the necessity to guarantee the right of all citizens, of all spaces to water, and allows for the availability of a secure hydraulic infrastructure.
To remember
Morocco has placed sustainable development at the centre of its priorities. An approach that places the human at the heart of priorities.
