Casablanca – A Ramadan evening, under the theme "Intimacy and Social Inclusion", brought together on Thursday juvenile detainees and their families for a collective Iftar at the Ain Sebaa Reform and Education Centre.
This initiative, organised in partnership with the Hassanian Association of Judges, the Local Scientific Council of the Ain Sebaa-Hay Mohammadi Prefectures, the NGO "TIBU Africa", and the "Casa Jeunes" association, aims to strengthen family ties and promote the social reintegration of young detainees.
The director of the Ain Sebaa Reform and Education Centre, Abdel Salam Sahli, said, "We are proud to host this Ramadan evening that brought together juvenile detainees and their families around a single Iftar table, embodying the attention paid by the General Delegation for Prison Administration and Reintegration to strengthening family ties and social inclusion."
Sahli added, in a speech on the occasion, that "this initiative is part of the continuous efforts made by the General Delegation for Prison Administration and Reintegration to implement rehabilitation programmes for detainees. These measures help alleviate the burden of detention and promote the social and family reintegration of detainees."
He continued, "The openness of prison institutions to their external environment, in cooperation with our partners, contributes to consolidating the values of tolerance, solidarity, and hope, as well as contributing to building a better future for these young people by promoting their social integration."
On this occasion, several personalities from the worlds of sports, arts, and media contributed to animating football matches, which provided an opportunity to share moments of intimacy with the centre's detainees.
In this context, the artist Tarik Berrada said in a statement to the Moroccan News Agency (MAP), "I am happy to be here today among these young people, and I sincerely hope they will be able to improve their future and change their lives for the better."
He added that "these meetings are an opportunity to remind everyone that every person deserves a second chance, and that the will to change can alter life paths."
For his part, actor Nabil Atef said, "We came today to share a moment of happiness with the young people of the Ain Sebaa Reform and Education Centre. This is a humanitarian, artistic, and sporting gathering aimed at instilling hope in their hearts."
This event was enhanced by an art exhibition highlighting the creative talents of the centre's detainees, as well as Samaa and Madih performances that added a spiritual and emotional dimension to this gathering.
The evening also featured the distribution of prizes to the winners of cultural, artistic, and sports competitions organised within the prison institution on the occasion of Ramadan, as well as the honouring of several personalities.
