Graduation of the 1st class of the handicraft school-site in Tétouan

The graduation ceremony for the first class (2012-2014) of the Tétouan training workshop was held on Sunday at the Tétouan School of Trades and National Arts, at the initiative of the Moroccan Association of Training Workshops for Development.

The 62 graduates benefited from theoretical and practical training in various trades related notably to construction, the restoration of historical monuments, carpentry, and electricity, under the supervision of qualified artisans who have pedagogical training.

Through these training programmes in authentic Moroccan craft trades, the association aims to offer young job seekers a qualification enabling them to start a life project, to promote Moroccan craft products, and to encourage the creation of small businesses specialising in the field of historical building restoration.

These training programmes will help encourage innovation and creativity in the craft sector, guide artisans towards creating their own businesses, and regulate this sector, in order to contribute effectively to national economic growth and improve its competitiveness at both national and international levels.

This scientific path will allow these young people to be immediately operational thanks to their workshop experience and to have a professional qualification to engage in profitable projects.

This "Tétouan training workshop" project, which has benefited from considerable support from the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), aims to be an effective tool to address youth unemployment, through the valorisation of cultural heritage and the training of young people in the trades of historical monument restoration and construction.

The Moroccan Association of Training Workshops for Development, created in 2008, aims to support disadvantaged young job seekers by offering them socio-economic activity and entrepreneurship prospects.
