The opening ceremony of the forum, organised in partnership with the Taroudant commune, was marked by the organisation of a major national symposium, entitled "Approaches to the current situation of the Amazigh language, culture and identity", which featured interventions by a group of research professors and media professionals from various regions of the Kingdom.
The programme of this cultural event included an artistic evening, in celebration of the Amazigh New Year "Yennayer" 2975, in which a group of Amazigh artists participated alongside performances of the Rways art and Ahwash Taskiouine, in addition to the honouring of a group of personalities.
On this occasion, the President of the Azmza Association for Culture and Development, Hassan Ait Balla, said that the organisation of this forum falls within the framework of highlighting the richness of the Amazigh heritage and showcasing its artistic and cultural diversity, through a rich programme, noting that this celebration embodies a shared commitment to promoting Moroccan cultural heritage in its diverse dimensions.
He added, in a statement to the Maghreb Arabe Presse (MAP), that the celebration of "Yennayer" 2975 was marked this year by a varied programme, which included artistic performances featuring Amazigh dances, with the participation of the "Ahwash Taskiouine" troupes, the "Imdoukal group", and other groups, which delighted the audience present with distinct Amazigh pieces and chants.
For his part, the Regional Director of the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication (Culture Sector), Chafik Bourkia, confirmed in a similar statement that this celebration of the new Amazigh New Year comes within the framework of preserving the ancient Amazigh culture and working to promote it as one of the components of Moroccan culture, which is characterised by unity and diversity, in addition to restoring the status of Amazigh customs and traditions in the city of Taroudant.
This celebration comes in line with the Royal Decree announced by His Majesty King Mohammed VI to make 14 January, the first day of the Amazigh year, an official public holiday in the Kingdom of Morocco, which reinforces the recognition of Amazigh culture as a fundamental component of Moroccan identity.
