The Management of the "Al Asouar Festival of short films awarded the grand prize of Taroudant" will organise, from March 24 to 26, the second edition of this cultural and artistic event which will henceforth bear the title of "Taroudant International Festival of short films awarded the grand prize".
This edition will be marked by the organisation of an international competition reserved for international short films awarded the grand prize in 2016 and a national competition reserved for Moroccan short films awarded the grand prize in film festivals organised in Morocco in 2016, indicates a statement from the festival management.
Concerning the prizes, the national competition will be endowed with two prizes, the first "Golden Fort" with a prize of 20,000 dirhams and the second "Silver Fort" with a prize of 10,000 dirhams, while the international competition will award two prizes: the "Golden Fort" with a prize of 1,500 euros and the "Silver Fort" with a prize of 1,000 euros. The programme for this edition will be rich and varied. In addition to the national and international competitions, it will include several activities, including the signing of film publications, the organisation of training workshops, tribute ceremonies for several figures of the artistic scene as well as conferences and master classes. In addition to the screening of short films, which will be punctuated by numerous parallel artistic and cultural activities, this meeting will also be an opportunity to pay tribute to stakeholders in various fields of local development. According to its initiators, the Festival aims to open up to the environment of Taroudant, through meetings for students. The inhabitants of the city will be entitled to a series of open-air screenings. This initiative is also intended to be an international cultural and artistic event and a place for meetings and exchanges between directors from here and elsewhere with the aim of strengthening creativity in the seventh art.
