This operation is part of the efforts made by security services aimed at neutralizing the risks of terrorist threats and preventing extremist projects that threaten the security and stability of the Kingdom, indicates a statement from the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations (BCIJ).
The searches carried out at the suspect's home led to the seizure of suspicious chemical materials, likely to be used in the manufacture of improvised explosive devices, including bottles containing hydrochloric acid, hydrogen peroxide, and zinc sulfate, which were submitted for scientific analysis, as well as bladed weapons of various sizes, mobile phones, and electronic storage devices.
Preliminary investigation data reveal that the suspect had collected various information in order to learn about the materials and substances used in the manufacture of explosives and to train in the procedure for their use in his terrorist project, with the aim of seriously attacking the safety of individuals and public order.
The suspect was referred to the BCIJ, where he was placed in police custody to deepen the investigation under the supervision of the prosecutor in charge of terrorism cases, in order to identify all the suspect's terrorist objectives, as well as his links to potential accomplices.
