Tan-Tan Port: Sharp decline in fishing landings at the end of November
The port of Tan-Tan recorded a significant drop in its coastal and artisanal fishing activity at the end of November 2024. According to the latest report from the National Office of Fisheries (ONP), the quantities landed decreased by 46%, falling from 100,683 tonnes in 2023 to 54,187 tonnes in 2024.
This decline is accompanied by a 10% decrease in the market value of these products, which reached 737.79 million dirhams at the end of November 2024, compared to 822.77 million dirhams a year earlier.
The decrease in landings is largely explained, according to the report, by the 54% drop in pelagic fish, whose volumes stood at 38,650 tonnes, for a value of 157.765 million dirhams. In 2023, these landings reached 84,443 tonnes, generating 276.950 million dirhams.
