ONP: 46% drop in fishing landings at the port of Tan-Tan

The National Office of Fisheries (ONP) indicated that the quantities of coastal and artisanal fishing products landed at the port of Tan-Tan recorded a drop of 46% at the end of November 2024, to stand at 54,187 tonnes, against 100,683 tonnes during the same period of the year 2023.

In its latest report on coastal and artisanal fishing statistics in Morocco, the ONP specifies that the market value of these products recorded a decrease of 10%, to reach 737.79 million dirhams at the end of November 2024, against 822.77 million dirhams a year earlier.

According to the report, the quantity of pelagic fish landed in this port decreased by 54% at the end of November 2024 to stand at 38,650 tonnes, with a financial value of 157.765 million dirhams, against 84,443 tonnes (276.950 million dirhams) during the same period of 2023.

For their part, white fish catches fell by 14% (9,948 tonnes) to reach 218.919 million dirhams (-5%), against 11,578 tonnes (229.863 million dirhams) for the same period in 2023.

Mollusc landings, for their part, increased by 19%, with 5,405 tonnes (352.089 million dirhams, i.e., +14%), against 4,540 tonnes valued at 310.082 million dirhams during the same period of the year 2023.

Regarding crustaceans, their landings grew by 52% at the end of November 2024 to reach 185 tonnes (9.016 million dirhams/+53%), against 122 tonnes for a market value estimated at 5.876 million dirhams at the end of November 2023.

At the national level, a total of 1,233,568 tonnes of coastal and artisanal fishing products were marketed at the end of November 2024, an increase of 1% compared to the same period of 2023.

According to the National Office of Fisheries, the value of these landings amounted to 10 billion dirhams, up 6% compared to the same period of the previous year.
