The Minister Delegate in charge of Water examines with the elected officials of the city of Tan-Tan the situation of the drinking water and liquid sanitation sectors
The Minister Delegate in charge of Water, Charafat Afilal, chaired a meeting on Monday in Tan-Tan with the city's elected officials, devoted to the situation of the water and liquid sanitation sectors in the region and the means to improve the services of the National Office for Electricity and Drinking Water.
The meeting, in which the governor of the province, the presidents of the elected councils, the deputies of the region and other civil and military personalities took part, focused in particular on the problem of water cuts due to technical constraints experienced by the seawater desalination plant commissioned in March 2014.
Speaking on this occasion, the Minister highlighted the importance of the water treatment plant, the construction of which required a budget of approximately 243 million dirhams, noting that the operation of this project has not reached its maximum capacity to meet the needs of the local populations due to technical constraints and difficulties related to the operation of this infrastructure.
The Minister also affirmed that sustained efforts are being deployed by the services concerned with a view to finding an appropriate solution to the problem of water cuts and ensuring the supply of this vital resource to the populations in the best conditions.
Regarding liquid sanitation, Charafat Afilal recalled the significant budgets mobilised in recent years for the implementation of a series of projects, citing among others the project to extend the sanitation network to several districts of the city and the construction of a wastewater treatment plant.
