Long forgotten, the city of Tan Tan has, for a few years now, been attracting interest from certain investors drawn by the significant potential that the province holds. Unfortunately, this interest is met with great negligence by those who are in charge of managing this city and who are from there. The visitor notices this negligence from several kilometers around, notably the foul odors that plague the city's atmosphere. Whether coming from the north or the south, the visitor gets a bad impression of the city. And with good reason! Wastewater and all kinds of garbage litter streets and alleys. The liquid sanitation that requires a budget of several billion centimes for urban development is almost non-existent. Like most cities, Tan Tan has a weekly market open every Sunday, but it is practically inaccessible due to wastewater and unhealthy odors.
The large square that is the pride of the city's inhabitants and is one of the few places for entertainment is surrounded by rusty metal drums serving as trash cans, as if the municipality did not have the means to acquire garbage bins that comply with hygiene standards. The potholed streets are populated by hordes of the mentally ill and packs of stray dogs, putting the lives of walkers and schoolchildren in danger.
The poor citizens have only their voices to denounce this situation. They have not stopped demonstrating and shouting, but in vain. No one hears them or wants to hear them. Local officials have been wallowing in incompetence for several years regarding the management of the city.
How long will this situation last? Will the Ministry of the Interior allow this disorder and mismanagement that prevail in this city to continue with impunity?
If the fate of the inhabitants seems unimportant to them, let them at least deign to clean up the urban space!
