Craftsmanship in Chaouia: authenticity and renewal

Craftsmanship in Chaouia: authenticity and renewal

The 11th Regional Craft Fair in Chaouia-Ouardigha recently opened its doors in Settat, under the theme: "Craftsmanship in Chaouia: authenticity and renewal".

Organised by the Craft Chamber of the Settat province in partnership with the House of the Artisan and in coordination with the regional directorate of the sector, this event, which will continue until 26 April, is intended to be a space dedicated to the promotion and marketing of local products and to highlighting the specificities and originality of the local artisanal product.

This initiative also aims to contribute to the influence of local and national cultural heritage and to highlight the creativity, richness, and diversity of craft production at the level of the provinces of the Chaouia-Ouardigha region, some products of which are known and marketed on a national, or even international, scale.

For the organisers, this Fair constitutes an annual opportunity for artisans to market their products, exchange their experiences in terms of production techniques, and establish business relationships between exhibitors from the region and those who have come from other regions.

In addition to exhibitors coming from different cities and main rural centres of the provinces of the Chaouia-Ouardigha region (Settat, Benslimane, Berrechid, Khouribga), this edition, arranged in 53 stands, sees the participation of artisans representing the other regions of the Kingdom, who present the various products of Moroccan craftsmanship including, among others, traditional sewing, embroidery, wood carving, painting on silk and glass, traditional weaving, pottery, leather, wood, and stone articles, ceramics, tapestry, and jewellery.

The opening of this edition was chaired by the Wali of the Chaouia-Ouardigha region, Mohamed Mouffakir, in the presence of elected officials, local authorities, and various actors in the sector.
